“Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans”

said Mr. Lennon. I kind of feel like this lately. I run around all of the time and don't feel like I get anything done or I talk about what I am going to do when I get more time. It's been so slow at work lately with the lousy housing market and over-excited doomsday-loving media and all. I've been going back to work on Mondays just to get some rest. Maybe I just feel real busy because I've been so slow at work that I am not used to actually having things to do. Nah, I'm just very busy and important :-) I even skipped game night so that I could do some laundry and clear my surfaces (and write this post). I've been falling behind on my blog reading and flickr browsing. I just saw this today. I think its such a cute idea. I have a lot of Pez. Probably enough to cover several walls. I've been collecting it since high school and now I have way too many to keep up with. I have some display shelves that my Dad made me but my collection has out grown them so I packed them away. This is a good idea just sticking them to the wall. Why didn't I think of that?

Happy Wooden Anniversary, Alex! I love you!

Thanks Jeff and Mama!

Right now I am sitting on our hotel balcony watching the ocean while Alex sleeps. We got our jeep back and we parked it on the top level of the parking garage where we can see it from the balcony. Alex and I have been pressing the panic button on the key fob and making the alarm go off. For some reason it seems really funny because its far away and no one knows it's us. We have to check out soon and go back to G'ville, I don't want to go home but I miss my doggies. It was so sweet of my parents to give us a little get away! The weather has been perfect around 80 degrees. We were worried that it would be too cold to swim but it warmed up just in time.

Yesterday we went to a seafood restaurant and as we were leaving we got stopped by a lady trying to get us to go to a timeshare meeting. She wouldn't let us leave and she kept offering us free vacations and cash just to come to her meeting. I kept telling her that we were not interested and she didn't listen. Then she asked Alex, what do you think sir? and he said "I have to go to the bathroom" It was soooo funny! The perfect thing to say because she let us leave right away. I will have to remember that one!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Back to the grind tomorrow but I have a short week. Friday is my bday and I will be taking the day off of work. Yipeee!

Busy, Busy, Busy

So much has been going on around here. My car is still in the shop, so far 2 weeks = 6 weeks. My parents rented me and Alex a hotel suite at Myrtle Beach with a jacuzzi for our Anniversary/my Birthday gift. Our Anniversary is this Friday and we will be married for 5 years! My B-day is the next Friday and we are going to the casino in Cherokee because they are having a mixed martial arts event with a real UFC fighter. Alex is very excited, I guess I am too.

Speaking of weddings. . .my little sis, Julie, got engaged this weekend. She sporting some major bling. I am so happy for her, but I feel really old!

See Ya Summer

The weather is getting cooler, we made the first fire of the season in the pit a few days ago. Maybe a little too early but we have Fall Fever. Alex and I are starting the Couch-to-5K running plan on Monday since the temp has dropped. I am so excited that he is doing it with me. I have the best husband in the world (aww)

Rachael's birthday is Monday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACH! We went out for Indian food last night to celebrate and then I beat her in a game of Soc and Ticket to Ride as a birthday gift. Just Kidding! That wasn't your gift :-)

Also, I want one of these! I think I want to get the Betty 1, as a tribute to my Nana.

Awesome!

I was searching here for a two player set up for SoC and I came across this photo. That guy is so lucky! I have been planning a patchwork project, this is going in Ye Olde Inspiration Journal.

Late Labor Day Post

I've been really busy and I almost forgot that I promised Neighbor Mark that I would post the results of the 1st Annual Greer Labor Day Croquet Invitational.

Congrats, Mark on your first place victory! Next year will be even better and no one will be admitted without proper croquet attire (ahem...Shaylan)

Smack, crack, bushwhacked

A couple of months ago, Alex and I bought a new Jeep Wrangler. It's supposed to be our fun car that we share and that isn't practical but is all about Alex and Amy. We have had a lot of fun and sweated a lot this summer riding around with the top off. Last weekend, the Jeep tried to escape. It rolled down the driveway, through a fence, and into a creek across the street.

The shop is estimating that its going to take two weeks to repair. I hear that two weeks in body shop language is actually several months to the average driver. We'll see. . .

out of order

My crappy cell phone finally broke, without any help from me :) So I am incommunicado for next few days until my new phone is delivered. In the mean time, I can be reached owl.

The owl has Alex's cell phone number.

Hey Momma-

I'm sorry that you fell down and broke your crown (by crown I mean elbow) but now you can take a long rest-hehe. . .sure. They say that bad things happen in threes but I think that we are up to 1,379 counting this one. I need more details on how the three things are calculated. Is there a time limit? Do the three things have to happen to me or are the three things transferable to other members of my family? Is it just my immediate family or are my extended family members and friends eligible as well? If anyone has any insight into this I would love to hear it.

Alex, it's your birthday! Happy Birthday Alex!

Friday was Alex's birthday. I took the day off of work so that we could PARTY, but he was sick. It might have something to do with this heat. He works outside most of the time and the high temps have been between 100 and 106 for the last week. His DQ dip cone didn't have a chance.

Happy Birthday, Sweetie Peetie!

Awwwwww. . .

Meet Chico. Alex rescued him from a bad home a couple of months ago. He is a little crazy, but we love him.

This is Tiny. She belongs to the neighbors. She is a Jack Russell, I think she can levitate. . .really.

Chico figured out how to climb the fence, without any help from the little girl next door, I'm sure :), and now we have cutie little puppies.

Well, we don't have puppies but the neighbors do. They are so sweet, I just want to squeeze them. I have to wait until they're bigger.

Speaking of squeezing sweet cute little things, my friend Tainaka had a baby girl last week. A whole month early. Mommy, Daddy, and Baby are doing great and are home from the hospital.

Congrats, Vince and Tainaka!

margaritas, poker, and good friends

Dear Allen's,

Thank you for coming home from Charleston this weekend! The margaritas were cool, the poker was fun, and I can't wait till you guys get back in town. Sorry, Rach. I didn't have any digital pics of you. Jeff's a camera hog. Be safe going back! We'll miss you!

It's better to light a candle than curse the darkness

A couple of weeks ago I started getting dizzy and stumbling around. I thought it would go away but it didn't. Then, I started thinking about terrible illnesses that can make you dizzy so I went to the doctor. Its a big deal if I go to the doctor, I don't like it and I really will take pain over taking pto to sit in the lobby waiting for them to mispronounce my name and give me drugs. Well, I was very relieved to find out that I only have an ear thing. I am not sure what kind of ear thing. I also don't pay very good attention while at the doctor. She said something about fluid and gave me some nasal spray and allergy meds. My ear didn't even hurt until she poked around in it and now it feels like its going to explode. I am about out of the nasal spray and it still hurts so I started talking to folks about remedies and my friend and coworker, Jennifer, suggested that I try ear candling. I went to the local Earth Fare and picked up a couple of Harmony Cones and then headed home to terrify my husband by sticking a burning candle in my ear. It didn't work. I may have done something wrong. I was kind of afraid that I was going to scorch my ear canal with hot wax but it didn't happen. I even cut the end of the candle open to see all of the nasty stuff that I heard about but it looked like wax-candle wax not ear wax. Oh, well it was worth a shot.

I got a book in the mail today! Yay! I needed a new distraction. A friend recommended that I start the DEATH GATE CYCLE after I finished the core Dragonlance novels. I hope that I can't put it down.

sad

This is my friend Jason, he died today. He was in a bad car accident. We grew up together, he was an awesome guy! He wouldn't want anyone to be sad today, but we are anyway. He was a prankster and he had a goofy laugh. I am going to miss him very much.

Five by Five

I am so excited! I was getting caught up on the best celebrity gossip and I learned that there is a Buffy musical! Well, sort of. Once More with Feeling is my favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode and now its being shown in a theater! It's even a sing-a-long! I was worried that there wouldn't be a show close enough to talk Alex into going to (he doesn't understand), but the site says that there is a show in ATL on 9/15. They also mention a show in Charleston, but it doesn't say if its SC or WV.

I can't wait!

I just realized that September will be a perfect time to make a trip to the Atlanta Ikea! Alex doesn't understand that either , hehe!

Grrrr. . .Argh

I love weekends!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I did. I went to see 1408 with Alex yesterday. It was a good show, it was kind of trippy and it had John in it so you can't beat that. The most exciting part was a preview for a new Halloween directed by Rob Zombie. I love horror movies but I am a bit desensitized to most. I think that Rob Zombie must have had the same problem and he decided to do something about it. The Devil's Rejects scared the crap out of me and I loved it. I can't wait to see what he does with Michael Myers.

After the movie, we went to Target (mmmm. . .Target) to get new pillows. I love pillows, especially the cool side. Then we went to Chili's to get Alex some ribs and we noticed that we were driving over a lot of debris and small trees on the way. I didn't really think anything of it but when we got to Chili's our server said that a tornado had just came through Haywood rd. It must have happened while we were in Target (Target saved the day!) Then she said that they were out of ribs, OUT OF RIBS! That's like McDonalds being out of fries or Krispy Kreme being out of doughnuts! Well maybe not just like that, but close. Anyway, we did notice that a bunch of signs were smashed and more trees were down on the way home. Thank Goodness we needed pillows :)

Amy's Weblog-TAKE TWO

I have tried blogging before. It didn't work out. I am not sure what happened but I am willing to give it another try.

Ok. First, I'll give you a little background on myself. I am a 28 year old kid living in Greenville, SC with my husband, Alex. I have three dogs. Marley, Jubei Kibagami , and Chico. I also have an orange cat named Tang. I spend my days in a cubicle and my nights and weekends hanging with the hubby and being geeky. I'm crafty and I like to read. Fiction only and never anything sad. I can't handle tragedy, I am a little sensitive. Lately, I have been sewing more than knitting and playing a lot of Settlers of Catan. I am very good at SoC, I don't loose. . .much.

It will probably take me a little while to get the hang of this. I need to brush up on my skills, any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated. Stay tuned and thanks for your patience.
